Obituary

Rev. Luce died Monday, February 20, 2017, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL. Clark was born July 14,1927, in Elyria, OH, the son of Clark C. and Virginia Blood Luce. He served in the US Army during WWII and the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Myra Roesler November 27, 1954, in Waseca, MN. They celebrated 61 years and 127 days of marriage prior to her death on April 3, 2016. Clark graduated from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1960 with a BA in religion and in 1972 with a Master of Divinity. He served as pastor for First Baptist Churches of Lexington, Nokomis, East Moline, Park Forest, and Kankakee, all in Illinois. He retired in 1996 to enjoy traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. Clark's leisurely interests included reading, swimming, traveling, following the Cubs and the Bears, attending weekly veterans meetings, and making sure that people knew the Lord. Clark was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and above all, he loved the Lord the most. He was a fun person with a wonderful sense of humor, receiving satisfaction from making others laugh. He saw each new challenge as an adventure. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his daughters, Becky Kelley, Rock Island, IL, Melanie (Troy) Frericks, Ankeny, IA, Rhonda Smith, Rock Island; son, Kevin Luce, South Beloit, IL; grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Amanda, Molly, Jacob, Nicole, and Erica; great grandson, Cohwen; siblings, Joan (John) Hormel, OH, John (Mindy) Luce, VA, Claudia (Arden) Sims, OH, and Susan Bossley (William Rady), OH; and his special kitty, "Sammy".
