Funeral services for Clifford L. Coder, 80, of Hampton, IL, will be 2:00PM Sunday (today) at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Mr. Coder died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Hampton Volunteer Fire Department or the Hampton Historical Society. Clifford was born January 24, 1929 in Hampton, IL, the son of Bill and Trudy (Duncan) Coder. He served in the US Navy. He married Jeanette Harker. He later married Helen McLaughlin. He worked as a carpenter, retiring from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, in 1985 after 30 years of service. After retirement, he fished commercially. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He loved the Mississippi River and his family. His unique sense of humor and his amazing use of language will be missed. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Sue and Alan Knapper of McCausland, IA, Sara Coder of Golden, CO; sons and daughters-in-law, Dusty and Jona Coder of East Moline, IL, Tony and Julie McLaughlin of East Moline; grandchildren (spouse), Justin (Audrey), Amanda, Jessica, Emily, Josiah (Kim), Ana, Ian, Kylie and Taylor; great granddaughter, Isabella and a baby expected soon; sister, Bette Eggerichs of Hampton; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Bev Coder of Hampton; ex-wife, Jeanette Harker; several stepchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Jr., ex-wife, Helen Coder, stepson, Perry McLaughin.
