Constantine "Dino" Sakas, 87, formerly of East Moline, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Greek American Rehabilitation Centre, Wheeling, IL. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion Prayer service will be at 7PM. Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Dino was born on March 7, 1928 in Kalamata, Greece, the son of George and Patricia (Feretos) Sakkas. He married Mary K. Argeropoulos on November 15, 1964 in Greece. She died October 4, 2010. At age 13, he served as a messenger boy for the Greek resistance against the Nazis and was then drafted into the Greek army to fight the Bulgarian communist insurgence. He was a master watch maker. He enjoyed telling stories and socializing. He especially loved roasting lamb on Greek Easter. Survivors include his son, George (Maria) Sakas, Antioch, IL, and grandchildren Eleni and Kosta.
