Obituary

Funeral services for Dale A. Prickett, 79, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Friday at the First Congregational Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Prickett died Saturday, September, 29, 2007 at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation or the Heart Connection Children's Cancer Program, Des Moines, IA . Mr. Prickett was born November 15, 1927 in Scott, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Ira and Mildred (Wilson) Prickett. He had served in the US Army. He married Geraldine "Gerry" Bartow August 22, 1948 in Washington, IA. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, Class of 1954. He was a proud member of the Alumni Association and a lifetime Hawkeye Fan. He had been a Pharmacist for 53 years. During his career he worked at and owned Ridgewood Drug, Quinn Pharmacy, and the Prescription Shop. In his late 50's he was State Vice President of the Iowa Jaycees. He had been active in the community, serving in many capacities among which he had served on the Board of Directors of the Visiting Nurse Association. He was an avid golfer and liked woodworking. He cared deeply about his family and followed his grandson, Dale's, tour in Iraq closely on his computer. He had been a member at Short Hills Country Club for 41 years. Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, "Gerry" Prickett of East Moline, daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Tom Biehl of East Moline, sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gregory and Valerie Prickett of East Moline, Ted Prickett and Yvonne Mascari of East Moline; grandchildren, James Prickett, Jason Langston, Jeffrey Prickett, Ben Prickett, Dale Prickett, Katie Biehl, Meredith Biehl, 6 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Gene DeVol of Burlington, IA.
