Dan R. "Sammy" Salmonson , 62, of East Moline, IL, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Island County Forest Preserve. The family also invites you to honor Dan's memory by playing a round of golf - one of his greatest passions .

Dan was born on May 20, 1963, in Moline, IL, to Reuben and Mollie (Miner) Salmonson. He married Marcy A. Cherrington on November 9, 1990, in East Moline.

Dan built a lifelong career on the golf course, most recently serving as Assistant Superintendent at Indian Bluff Golf Course in Milan, IL. He got his start at the age of 18 at Golfmohr Golf Club, then went on to work at Arsenal Island Golf Course before dedicating over 30 years to Indian Bluff.

Family and golf were the cornerstones of Dan's life. He cherished playing rounds with his brother Mike, his daughter Erica, and many close friends. He found great joy in attending his grandchildren's sporting events and watching them grow. Dan was vibrant, social, and deeply loved. His family and friends will miss his quick wit and warm heart.

Dan is survived by his wife, Marcy; daughters Erica Salmonson of Moline, Molly Koenig of Rock Island, and Hanna (Steven) Etheridge of Coal Valley; grandchildren Braydon, Mia, and Stella Etheridge; sister Pam (Eldon) Partridge; brother Mike Salmonson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Mollie.
