Funeral service for Dana W. Sels, 56, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Tuesday, (today) at the funeral home. Mr. Sels died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL, after a courageous battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Revitalize and Develop East Moline (REDEEM). Dana was born November 30, 1950 in Moline, IL, the son of Pete and Betty Jean (Griffith) Sels. He was a graduate of Bradley University, Peoria, IL, where he received his Electrical Engineering Degree. He married Gloria Kron. He had worked 33 years for Deere & Company. He was a world wide expert on Combine Manufacturing. He served at the Des Moines Works, Davenport Works, and most recently as Operations Manager at the John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. Dana had been a member of the board of Associated Employers from 1997-2001. He had been a board member and past president of Short Hills Country Club and REDEEM. Survivors include: wife, Gloria Sels of East Moline; daughter, Sarah Sels of East Moline, IL; sons and daughter-in-law, Matt Sels of Seattle, WA, Nathan and Lauren Sels of Chicago, IL, Andrew Sels of Phoenix, AZ; mother, Betty Jean Sels of Moline; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana and Dan Soots of Coal Valley, IL, Debra Sels of Sterling, IL, Carol Sels of Lowden, IA, Cheryl and Jim Farmer of Erie, IL.
