Daniel R. Kannenberg, 64, East Moline, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 10 AM Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is from 4-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a rosary being recited at 3PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts , memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the family.

Dan was born on February 23, 1958 in Moline, the son of Harry and Madeline "Madge" (Veys) Kannenberg. He graduated from United Township High School, Class of 1976. Dan married Jolene Krol on July 12, 1980 in Silvis. He was a photographer for Olan Mills for 17 years. He worked for East Moline Metal and retired from George Evans in June of 2020.

Dan was an avid sports fan. He spent his youth playing on multiple basketball and baseball leagues, where he met many of his lifelong friends. He enjoyed playing golf and watching the Chicago Bears, St. Louis Cardinals and Illinois basketball games with friends and family. More often than not, the line between friend and family crossed, because if you were a friend of Dan's, you not only had a friend for life, but you were treated like family. He looked forward to his time with friends at his favorite establishments to catch up over a drink or two. His big smile would light up a room and make everyone feel welcome.

Family meant everything to Dan, and he loved every second of being a loving husband, an involved dance/pageant dad to his daughters, and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. Most weekends, you could find him hosting the family at his home for some food and laughs.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene, daughters; Julie Utz, Moline, and Jenna (Juan) Aguilera, Geneseo, grandchildren; Chloe, Wyatt and Lucy and a sister Susie (Jerry) Hansen, Rock Island. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Frankie Bratton and brother Mike Kannenberg.

The family would like to thank the staff at Genesis Medical Center and Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for the wonderful care given to Dan.
