Funeral services for Daniel "D.J" Rasso, 85, of Campbell's Island, East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1:30 PM. Mr. Rasso died Thursday April 4, 2013 at Aspen Rehab & Health Care, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to the Aspen Activity Fund. D.J. was born October 7, 1927 in a boxcar in the Silvis Yards, the son of Juan and Maria Montecino Razo. He served in the US Navy. He married Esther Ponciano May 16, 1953 in Chicago, IL. He had worked for the former Rock Island Lines, retiring when they closed. He had played baseball for the Rebel's and the Aztec's in the Mexican Baseball League during the 1940's and 1950's. He was active in forming the softball league on Campbell's Island. He was an avid Chicago Cub's Fan and Chicago Bears Fan. He enjoyed gardening and loved his family. Survivors include his wife, Esther Rasso, East Moline; daughter, Donna Fitch, East Moline; son, Roland Rasso, Rock Island, IL; granddaughter, Michelle Hunigan, Davenport; great grandchildren, Omar Jr. and ShaRee Hunigan; and a great great grandchild due September 2013; brothers, Peter Razo, Sterling, IL; David (Helen) Rasso, East Moline, and Fred Rasso, Moline.
