Darryl J. Beckett, 72, of Viola, IL, passed away Saturday July 25, 2026 at his home.

A Celebration of Darryl’s Life for family and friends is being planned for August 29, 2026, further information regarding time and place will be forthcoming. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Darryl was born June 14, 1954, in Moline, Illinois to Troy and Shirley (Holdridge) Beckett. He graduated from Moline High School, and received his master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. He was previously married to Susan Harmening.

He was a professor for many years at Black Hawk College, Moline.

Darryl found great joy in music, especially the music of the Grateful Dead, and was rarely far from a favorite song. He had a deep appreciation for horses and enjoyed being around them. He also loved spending time fishing, finding peace and contentment out on the water. Above all, he cherished his family, spending time with those he loved and creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Survivor’s include his daughters, Katherine Beckett (Derek Wierema), Moline, and Dawn Beckett, Viola; grandchildren, Selah Jaggers, Maycee Jaggers, and Liam Wierema; brothers, George “Jimmy” (Jacqueline) Beckett, California, David Beckett, Milwaukee, WI, John (Yolanda) Beckett, Moline, and Kenneth (Deborah) Beckett, Milwaukee; sister, Kristy (Jeff) Williams, Strawberry Plains, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Darryl is preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Shirley; and two sisters, Sharon Tittle and Patricia Beckett.
