IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darryl Dean
Mason
December 21, 1966 – April 18, 2009
Darryl Dean Mason Sr., 42, East Moline, died Saturday, April 18th 2009 at Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island. Private family services are scheduled. A memorial fund for his children's Education has been established at First Central State Bank of Eldridge, IA 52748. Darryl was the kind of person who, no matter what he may have been going through at the time, could always make you laugh until your stomach hurt. He had a way of telling stories that to a normal person wouldn't seem funny, but to the ones who understood and loved him the way he was, they were hilarious. He loved the Chicago Cubs and some of his favorite past times were taking his son, Darryl Jr., to the games. He loved to golf and fish with Darryl, and once in a while he could convince Madeline, his daughter, to join them. His children remember him as a fun-loving, carefree spirit who could cheer them up whenever they felt down. He was extremely proud of his daughter Madeline when she decided to attend the University of Illinois and pursue law school. Madeline and Darryl want to remember their father for all of the good times that they had with him. Something that Darryl, Madeline, and Darryl Jr. shared in common was their love for amusement parks and roller coasters. Their dad would sometimes be more excited than they were to rush to stand in line at the next roller coaster. Madeline remembers when her father took her on a trip to Mexico just the two of them where they ate lots of good food, something they both loved to do together. She remembers that she acquired her love for reading from her father who taught her the ABCs when she was two and used to read to her all the time. Darryl remembers when his father took him to batting cages to practice hitting with him. They want to love and remember him for the good intentions that he had for them and for always loving them as best as he could. Darryl was born December 21, 1966 in Moline, the son of John and Donna (Cowan) Mason. Darryl worked in sales at the Acri Company. Survivors include his children; Madeline Mason, Eldridge, and Darryl Mason, Eldridge, his father John Mason, Iberia, MO brother Rodney (Deborah) of Orion and Johnny of Iberia, and step-sisters Mary Ann Williams, Moline, Vickie (Jerry) Kopel, East Moline and Monica Crull, Moline and step brother Roger Crull of Moline.
