Obituary

David N. Baker, 91 of East Moline, IL, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.  Services are 11 am Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Van Hoe Funeral home, 1500 6th Street, East Moline with Pastor Ronald Philpot officiating.  Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military honors conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Dave was born April 4, 1932, in Andersonville, IN to Thurman and Charlotte Robbins Baker.  He married Dorothy A. Newkirk, November 3, 1956, in Connersville, IN.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired as a Major from the Air National guard.  He worked as a Transportation Management Specialist for the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring after 22 years.  Dave was a member of Northcrest Calvary Baptist Church, Moline, IL.  Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, IL.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years, Dottie; children, Gregory (fiancée Diane Medearis), and Beth (Dave) Nowack, of East Moline; his grandsons, Brett and Brian Nowack, great-grandchildren, Jace, Xander, and Emery; his dog, Toby; brother, Gerald (Patricia) Baker, and sisters, Janet Feightner and Jeannie Cox, all of Indiana, and extended family members James Baker, Arizona and Penelope Baker, England.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marion and Irvin, and sister, Esther Emerson.
