Funeral services for David A. Neels, 61, East Moline, are 11 AM Saturday December 13, 2008 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 9:30 until service time at the funeral home. David died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at VA Hospital, Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established. David was born April 30, 1947 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Robert "Bud" and Velma (Clark) Neels. He had worked at Manary Jiffy on 23rd Avenue, Moline for many years, before going to work for Illinois Oil Products, Rock Island and then back to Jiffy Service until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Dave served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW. Survivors include his mother Velma Neels, East Moline, sister and her friend; Donna Harris and Jeff Maretich, Coal Valley, brothers and sisters-in-law; Mike and Alma Neels of East Moline and John and Sandy Neels of Silvis, sisters-in-law Sue Neels, East Moline and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, a brother Gerald, a niece Tammy and a nephew Bobby.
