David M. "Dubby" Rasso, 97, East Moline, died Sunday, October 26, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where MAVA will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-8PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., with a rosary recited at 7:30 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church, where he was a member. David was born June 26, 1917 in Silvis, IL, the son of John and Maria (Montecino) Rasso. He married Helen Perez on August 8, 1939. He served in the US Army during WWII. Dave had worked for the railroad for a short time, the Rock Island Arsenal and then for 32 years with John Deere Harvester Works in East Molilne, retiring in 1978. Dave and his wife enjoyed wintering in Arizona. He was a self taught Jack of all trades and was always ready to share a story with those around him. He enjoyed the outdoors, living on the river his whole life, but most of all being with his family. Dubby was a die-hard Chicago Cub Fan. Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Helen, children (spouses) David (Crystal) Rasso Jr., East Moline, Janet (Jim) Armstrong, Silvis, Michael (Chris) Rasso, East Molilne, Helen (Gene) Davis, Danville, IL, Steve Rasso, East Moline, son-in-law Cecil Hernandez, twenty grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and one on the way, numerous great-great grandchildren, and his brother Fred Rasso, Moline. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Rita Hernandez, a sister and 5 brothers.
