David W. Simmons, 61, of East Moline, IL, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 in East Moline.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

David was born December 30, 1960 in Monmouth, IL, a son of James and Glenda Ward Simmons. He married Leslie S. Richardson on March 13, 2015, in Rock Island.

He worked for the I.C. & E. railroad for many years. Most recently he was a mechanic at Avenue Automotive, East Moline.

David enjoyed music, poker, camping, fishing and working on cars. He was witty and enjoyed sharing his funny sense of humor. He will be fondly remembered as kind and generous, often referred to as "Superman" by his family. David will be lovingly remembered as wonderful husband, dad, and the best "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Leslie, of East Moline; daughters, Kaylynn Simmons, Rock Island, Lynsey (Cody) Spriet, Sherrard and Angela Simmons, Moline; grandchildren, C.J., Khloe, Nevaeh, Mia, Madden, Hadley and Liam; stepdaughters, Angela Richardson, Bobbi Jo Clevenger and Cheryl Richards, and their families; siblings, Linda Kennedy, Larry Simmons, Steven Simmons, Janice Ward, J. Mark Simmons, Timothy Simmons, Chuck Hageman, Shad Simmons, Ward Simmons, Richard Simmons and Sandra Dittman; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

David was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James "Mike" Simmons and one sister, Karen Howes.
