David E. Soots, 78, of East Moline, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport, surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time at the funeral home.  Entombment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

David was born on December 15, 1946, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Davis and Donna (Jones) Soots.  David married Renee Bussert on November 18, 1967, in Moline.  He retired from John Deere Harvest Works where he worked as an electrician.  David was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.  He enjoyed boating, camping, and traveling in his motor home with his loving wife of 49 years.

David is survived by his children, David D. (Donna Clark) Soots, Clarksville, TN and Julie (David) Houghton, Dubuque, IA; grandchildren, Jake (Leishmarie Jerris) Westlin; Brittain (fiancé, Allison Pfohl) Houghton, and Dustin Soots; great grandchildren, Zain Soots and Roman Westlin; siblings, Daniel Soots and Diana (Leo) Fetterer; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Renee Soots; parents; and sister-in-law, Diana Soots.
