Funeral services for David A. "Smokie" Walters, 54, of Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL.  Interment will be St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Walters died Thursday, April 10, 2014 as a result of an industrial accident in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. David was born August 28, 1959, in Freeport, IL, the son of Oliver and Margie Sands Walters. He had been working as a sandblaster at Midwest Underground Inc., East Moline. Survivors include his mother, Margaret McCullough (Bill Winthurst), Bettendorf, IA, sister, Tammy Walters (Bill Wall), Bettendorf, and Kathy Green, Rock Island, IL; brother, Todd Walters, Rock Island; stepmother, Mary E. Walters, Albany, IL, stepsister, Laura (Steve) Hammond, Clinton, IA; uncle, Jerry Sands; many nieces, nephews, cousins; a dear friend, Andi. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, stepfather, Bobby McCullough, stepsister, LeAnne Leffler; and his companion of 20 years, Judith Miles.
