Delbert U. Sykes, 64, of Davenport, IA, died Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport. Funeral services are Saturday at Noon at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Private family interment is in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is one hour before service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. Delbert was born October 4, 1950 in Carbondale, IL. He married Elizabeth Hughes in 1978 in Rock Island, IL. He worked 10 years for John Deere. Along with his wife he owned D & L & Sons Recycling. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth; children, Jennifer Johnson Jones, Carbondale, IL, Eric Jones, Delbert Sykes Jr., and Darross Sykes all of Davenport. 10 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Agnes Sykes, Carbondale, Nikki Foster, Alabama, Brothers, Mel Foster, Davenport and Cary Brooks- Foster, and many nieces and nephews He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Kay and Fred, and Great Aunt Emilynn who raised him.
