Obituary

Delores "Dee" Brandon, 79, of East Moline, passed away June 8, 2008 at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park in Bettendorf, IA, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be at Rose-Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Dee was born December 6, 1928 in Olmitz, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harry and Mary (Wagaman) McFarland. She grew up in Williamson, Iowa and graduated from Chariton High School in 1947. She was united in marriage on January 25, 1948 to Charles (Chuck) Brandon. Dee lived in East Moline for 53 years, where she worked at Baecke's Grocery Store, National Tea Food Chain, and retired in 1991 from Colona Avenue State Bank, where she was the head teller. Dee loved dancing, crocheting, knitting, golfing and especially her Wednesday Bingo nights at the Viking Club. Throughout their married years, Chuck and Dee enjoyed their family vacations and especially loved being "Winter Texans" for 15 years in San Benito where they made several close friends. Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband of 60 years, Chuck; Daughters, Verna (Jim) Petersen, of Davenport, IA, and Donna (Jimi) Meade, of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Carrie (Kurt) Mack, of Grand Prairie, TX, Shawna (Mark) Smith, of Davenport, IA, and Charles (Skylar) Petersen, of Buffalo, IA; Great grandchildren, Leiana, Enrico, and Logan Garcia; Hailey, Jacob, and Payton Smith; Kinnlie Petersen; nieces and nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Duane, George, and Dick McFarland and sister, Nona DeHeer. Her greatest love was for her family. We know she is in heaven baking her delicious cherry pie and red hot apple pie! We will all miss you Grandma Choo-Choo!
