IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delores Emma
Mcmillin
May 28, 1923 – July 28, 2016
Delores Emma McMillin, 93, of Decatur, formerly of East Moline, was reunited with the love of her life in heaven on July 28th at St. Mary's Hospital with her daughter by her side. Dee was born May 28, 1923 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Emma Senske Theis. She married Harry McMillin Jr. on Sept. 7th, 1942, and they enjoyed 60+ years together until he lost his battle with cancer in 2003. She was a devoted mother to their one and only child, Cathy Faye. She enjoyed many things, but talking on the phone, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, and working on her doll houses were at the top. In her younger years she worked at the licorice factory and was a riveter during the war. Her most important and cherished job however, was being a wife, mother, and grandmother, and she was happiest when her day involved anything with her grandkids. She loved people and was always doing something for someone. Dee leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Ken Suhr; granddaughters Amanda, Victoria, and Kristi; great-grandchildren Bradley, Kieran, Jordyn, and Blakely; brother William (Rosemary) Theis; sister-in-laws Marge Theis, and Donna (Bill) Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband "Mac"; brothers, Larry and Joe; and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. In honoring Dee's wishes she will be cremated and laid to rest in a private graveside service at the Rock Island National Cemetery. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to all the amazing and compassionate nurses at St. Mary's Hospital and St. John's Hospice. They are especially grateful to Dr. Ben Esparez at Cancer Care for going above and beyond consistently to care for and treat mom, and to everyone at First Christian Church for the many prayers, visits, and constant acts of kindness.
