Dennis J. Converse, 79, East Moline, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Unity Point Health, Rock Island, IL, from complications of Pneumonia and Kidney Disease. Funeral services are 12 PM Monday at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, where he was a member. Visitation is from 11 AM until service time. Graveside services are 2:30 PM Tuesday at Motley Cemetery, Motley, MN. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.

Dennis was born on March 29, 1940 in Brainerd, MN, the son of Albert and Peggy (Adler) Converse. He graduated from Washington High School and he and his wife Barbara moved to Moline, IL in 1964. He worked for McLaughlin Body Co. as a welder. He enjoyed many sports including, fishing, softball, basketball, bowling, golf, horse shoes, and tennis. In his 30's he raced dirt bikes and stock cars. Later he enjoyed camping which led him to becoming a snowbird, spending 6 months a year in Thonotosassa, FL.

He is survived by his partner of 18 years, Lois, East Moline, son Jeff Converse, LaGrange, NC, daughter Julie Converse, Davenport, IA, grandchildren; Andrea, Andrew, Brandon, Austin, Elizabeth, and great grandchildren; Brandon Jr., Emory, Marley, Carter, Jodi and Tamara, and his brother Roger (Alleen) Converse, Minneapolis, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jim, daughter, Jodi and his dog, Fritz.
