Funeral services for Don A. Matson, 72, of Colona, IL, will be 1:00PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Matson died Friday, February 29, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Matson was born June 25, 1935 in Washington Court House, OH, the son of Wilbur and Ruby (Vince) Matson. He married Joan Fossaen. He later married Connie Hout September 24, 1988 in Colona. He served 2 terms in duty in Korea in the U.S.A.F. When he returned to the United States he became a civilian retiree, working for the US Army. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1988 as an E-12. He had been a member of the Masons, Circleville, OH, Colona American Legion Post 1233, Colona American Veterans WWII Post 0146, and the East Moline VFW Post 2056. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping, woodworking, traveling, and spending time with his family. Survivors include: his wife Connie Matson of Colona; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and John Beeney of Davenport, IA, Christina and Kevin Scott of Colona; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Hae Kyung of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Allison, Heather, Michael, and Cortney; brother, Dave Matson of Washington Court House; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Bob and Eleanor Haynes, Jim and Gee Green. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Don Matson Jr.
