Donald M. Carr, Sr., 76, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Orion, IL, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at his home, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 4, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial, with military honors presented by V.V.A. Chapter 299, will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, at the funeral home. Don held a special place in his heart for children, so memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, Iowa City.

Donald was born May 3, 1946 in Rock Island, Illinois, a son of John and Mary Marshall Carr. He married the love of his life Billie June "B.J." Switzer on March 26, 1988 in Davenport, Iowa.

Donald was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service,  he began his long career with John Deere at the JD Foundry. He later worked at John Deere PDC and retired from JD Seeding in 2006.

He was an avid golfer, loved vegetable gardening, morel mushroom hunting, and was a genius at DIY projects.

Surviving are his wife, "B.J.", of East Moline; daughters, Kelli Carr, Davenport, IA, and Hope Anderson, Moline, IL; son, Donald Carr, Jr., Galesburg, IL; twin brother, Daniel (Helen) Carr, Lebanon, OH; sister, JoAnn Theuninck, East Moline; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Donald was preceded in death by his son, Joseph "Joe" Carr; parents, John and Mary; brother, Patrick Carr; and sisters, Mary "Bette" Woods and Kay Rook.
