Funeral services for Donald M. Cathcart, 95 of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be Sunday (today) 1:00-4:00PM at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Mr. Cathcart died Friday, January 30, 2009 at his daughter's home. Memorials may be made to Monsignor Cleary Endowment Fund. Don was born September 6, 1913 in Belton, MO, the son of Ferman and Harriet (Hall) Cathcart. He married Hattie "Jackie" Bartkowski September 4, 1946 in Phoenix, AZ. She died October 7, 1997. He served in the US Army Air Corp 24th Service Group during WWII, being stationed in Trinidad, Curaso, and Guam. He had worked for International Harvester East Moline, Borden's Dairy, and retired from Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric 1978. He had been a member of St. Anne Catholic Church since 1946. He was a track star and captain of the track team for United Township High School in 1933. He held district records in the 1 mile, and 2-mile relay. He was an avid walker and competed in the Senior Olympics, UTHS Panther Pant, and Firecracker Runs. His greatest accomplishment was walking the 5K of the Quad City Marathon in under 55 minutes at the age of 90. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and David Rigsby of East Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Cathcart of East Moline; grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Kyle and Angela; great grandchildren, Nathan, Katelyn, Kayla, Ryan, Tyler, Brianna, Hayley. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Bradley, brothers, Lester, Melvin, Orville and Everett Cathcart. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
