Funeral services for Donald J. Delles, 75, Moline, are 10 AM Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Christian wake service will be held at 4PM. A memorial fund has been established. Don died Saturday, December 08, 2007 at Trinity at Terrace Park. Donald was born May 24, 1932 in Moline, the son of Clarence and Ethel Essex Delles. Don was in the first graduating class from Alleman High School, Rock Island. He married Sandra Park on September 5, 1959 at St. Mary's Moline. He retired from the Rock Island Lines and later as a purchaser from Trackmasters, Silvis. He was a member of the VFW, enjoyed crossword puzzles his animals but his greatest pleasure was fishing. Don served in the US Army during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sandy, children and spouses; Steven and Darla Delles, St. Louis, Douglas and Prim Delles, East Moline, Shelly and Pete Stunkard, Murrayville, IL, Cris and Terry Clayton, Moline, and Kirk Delles, Kewanee, eighteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sisters Trudy Stratton, Galva, IL, Bev Stevens, Rock Island and Mary Jo Delles, Galva and a brother Vern Delles, East Moline. His daughter Joyce, granddaughter Becky, a brother Bill and his parents precede him in death.
