Donald Gaydos, 87, East Moline, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Amber Ridge, Moline. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-6 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne or to Heritage 53, Moline. Don was born on November 23, 1926 in Kewanee, IL, the son of Charles and Lena (Michalik) Gaydos. He served in the US Navy, during WWII, being stationed in Hawaii. He married Patricia O'Neill on July 22, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. He worked for 38 years for John Deere, beginning at the Plow Planter and eventually retiring from the Parts Distribution Warehouse in Milan. Don enjoyed fishing, playing golf and gardening. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Patricia, daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Chuck Earhart, Mineral Point, WI, son David Gaydos, Moline, grandchildren, Nichelle (Eric) Nelson and Nathan Earhart, and great grandchildren, James and Isabelle. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nellie, Johnny, Joe and Mary.
