Donald E. Gilson, 69, Colona, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. At his request, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born July 15, 1941 in Astoria, IL, the son of Harold and Pearl Gilson. He retired from Alcoa as a crane operator after 30 years of service. He married Wendy Villanueva on March 15, 1991. He enjoyed traveling and gambling. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, daughters Bianca, Sandy, Tammy, Pam, Janelle and Sherri, ten grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters Charlotte Cunningham, Rock Island and Bernadine Cappozoli, Rawlins, WY, and a brother Harley Jones, Seattle, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Vicky and Doris and brother Carmen and Bernard.
