Donald M. Pfau Jr., 92, Hampton, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Genesis Illini, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline or to the Hampton Historical Society. Don was born on July 5, 1923 in Chicago, IL, the only child of Donald M. and Beulah (Farver) Pfau Sr. He served in the US Air Force during WWII. Don received his Engineering Degree from Iowa State University. He married Betty Finley on March 17, 1950 at Watertown Baptist Church, East Moline. Don began his career at the John Deere Planter Works on June 25, 1951. His 33 years with Deere & Company included assignments in a variety of engineering functions and a progression of managerial positions at Planter Works, the Industrial Equipment Works, Deere & Company and the European Office. During the nearly 8 years in the European office, Don and Betty lived in Heidelberg Germany, and traveled extensively throughout Europe. Don enjoyed golfing and playing cards with his buddies. He enjoyed woodworking with his son Kenyon. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. Don was a Chicago Cubs Fan. Survivors include his wife Betty, daughter, Jennifer (Sean) McGivern, daughter-in-law Brenda Pfau, all of Hampton, grandchildren, Drew (Natalie) Wayne, Eldridge, IA, Ryan (Susan) McGivern and Katie (Ryan) Ganshert, both of Bettendorf, IA, and great grandchildren; Kyler, Karter, Olivia, Liam, Brogan and Salima. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Kenyon who died on February 19th of this year. The family would like to thank the staff at Genesis Illini for their wonderful care.
