Graveside services for Donald Edison Rogers, 51, of Rock Island, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Monday at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend should be at the Van Hoe Funeral Home by 10:30AM. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Rogers died Sunday, July 28, 2013 of natural causes, at his home. Memorials may be made to the family. Don was born April 13, 1962 in Moline, IL, the son of Arthur E. Rogers and Lois E. (Weekly) Rogers. He married Charlotte Eklof, August 22, 1992. They later divorced. Don graduated from United Township High School in 1980. He served in the US Army retiring in July of 2000. He spent his first 6 years on active duty as a Law Enforcement Officer in the Army Military Police. The next 14 years Don was in the Army Reserves as a Master Sergeant of a Tank Division. He recently retired from Palmer College in Davenport and was starting to enjoy a life of leisure. He was an avid reader, always trying to better himself. He enjoyed riding his bike on the bike path and was a die hard Chicago Bears fan. Over the last 7 years Don and his bothers, and good friend George, would get together and have a great time, on all Sunday games, cheering and cursing, as he put it "Them Dumb Bears". Don was a great father, grandfather, brother and son. He will be missed and is dearly loved by all of us. Survivors include his daughters, Linda (Mike) Chadwick, Las Cruces, NM, Tami (Ross) Smith, Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren, Madison E. Rogers, Karen A. Perez, and Clayton R. Smith; sisters, Pamela (Joseph) Reedy, East Moline and Jo Ellen (Brent Ewers) Williamson, Kennesaw, GA; brother, Bruce W. Willemarck, East Moline; aunts and uncles, Marvetia and Harvey Jack, Silvis, IL, and Bonetia and James Williamson, Golconda, IL; nieces and nephews, Michelle M. Willemarck, Joella Jones, Richard Nelson, Travis Reedy; and his good friend George Willemarck. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, James and Fleeta Barger; brother, William Willemarck, who died in January of this year; aunt and uncle, Bernice and Gerald Collier; nephew, Justin Willemarck-Reedy.
