Funeral services for Donald E. Rogiers, 79, East Moline, are 10 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post 246 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Don died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church or Hope Creek. Don was born on October 11, 1929 in Moline, IL, the son of Peter and Mary (Lannoo) Rogiers. He married Marjorie Bowman on June 12, 1954 in Moline. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Don retired in 1991 from the former Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Co, after 41 years of service. He enjoyed traveling and people watching. Following retirement, he enjoyed playing rolle bolle at the Friend's Circle, Moline. He was a member of the Moline American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marjorie, children (and spouses); Steven (Melinda) Rogiers, Tacoma, WA, Dena (Rob) Pettifer, Andover, and Linda Rhoades, East Moline, eleven grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a brother; Alfred (Rosie) Rogiers, Moline.
