Funeral services for Donald Rossi, 66, Mountain Home, ARK, formerly of Centerville, IA and the Quad-Cities, are 10 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at the funeral home. Don died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at his home. A memorial fund has been established. Don was born September 7, 1943 in Moline, the son of Bernard and Alida (VanDamme) Rossi. He retired in 2003 as a sheet metal worker from Johnson's Sheet Metal, East Moline. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. Don was an avid fisherman, was a NASCAR Fan and dearly loved his grandchildren. Survivors include his children and their spouses; Jeff and Lyn Rossi of Lathrop, MO and Laura and Marcos Valdes of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren; Josh Drinkwater, Austin and Heather Rossi and Kayleigh and Alex Valdes, sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Matt DeVooght of Hampton, his twin brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Joyce Rossi of Corinth, MS, his best friend Bob Fluegel of Colona and several nephews and a niece. He is preceded in death by his parents a brother Gilbert who died in 1955 and a nephew Wayne Rossi.
