Funeral services for Donald J. Russell, 77, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Russell died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline or The Parkinson Foundation. Don was born November 20, 1929 in Dixon, IL, the son of Daniel and Wanita (Spencer) Russell. He married Jean Maddox June 10, 1954 in Springfield, IL. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1985 from Silvis Junior High School, Silvis, IL, where he had been the School Counselor and Band Director. Over the years he had been very active at Playcrafters Barn Theatre and Quad City Music Guild, Moline IL. After retiring, he performed professionally for two years in Champaign, IL. In 1988 he and his wife, Jean moved to Hot Springs, AK. While in Hot Springs, he performed at the Pocket Theatre. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jean Russell of East Moline, daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Sharron LaFollette and Dr. Bill Martz of Rochester, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Janet Russell of East Moline; grandchildren (spouse), Trisha (Tony) Fritz, Tony Russell, great granddaughter, Lauren Fritz; sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Mark Fay of Dixon, IL; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Barbara Russell of Gurnee, IL, Rodney Russell of Crystal Lake, IL.
