Donald E. Versluys, 91, Silvis, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Unity Point, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, where he was a member. Don was born April 19, 1922 in Marshall, MN, the son of Ernest and Irene Dell Wortman Versluys. He married Imogene "Jean" Cowling on September 22, 1963 in Moline. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2002. He was a railroad engineer for the former Rock Island Lines and later retired in 1986 from the B&O Railroad in Joliet, IL. He enjoyed fishing, going out for dinner and his model railroad. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Survivors include his children (spouse), Don (Diane) Versluys, Osco, IL, Bill Versluys, Moline, Tim Versluys, Phoenix, AZ, and Jeff Versluys, Hemet, CA, step-daughter Robyn Fowler, Lancaster, CA, grandchildren, Todd, Thad, Mackenzie, and Samantha, step grandchildren, Tom and Greg, great grandchildren, Raelynn, Grace and Hannah, sister, Doris Bell, Arcadia, Michigan and brother, Ernest "Ike" Versluys, Silvis.
