Funeral services for Dean Woodyard, 80, East Moline, are 11 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Woodyard died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established. Donald Dean Woodyard was born May 13, 1928 in Warren County, IA, the son of Franklin and Frances (Cage) Woodyard. He was raised on a farm in Warren County. He attended Round Top Grade School and graduated from Liberty Center High School, Liberty Center, Iowa. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Barbara Fontenoy on December 13, 1962 in Rock Island. Dean worked at the former Minneapolis-Moline. He drove over the road for Admiral Merchants for over 31 years and after retirement he drove locally for Car Quest. Dean was a good hearted man, he enjoyed going to the junk store to find parts to build his next lamp. He was also an excellent gardener. Survivors include his wife Barbara, children and spouses; Tracey and Terry Mobley of San Diego, CA, Michael and Vicki Fontenoy of Erie and Steven Woodyard of Eldridge, IA, grandchildren; Amy, Jason, Nichole, Jacob, Matthew, John and Kelsey, great grandchildren; Makeala, Wyatt, Eric and Elizabeth, his mother Frances Woodyard, Indianola, IA, brother Bill Woodyard, Carlisle, IA, sisters; Doris Garrison, Indianola, IA and Sherry (Gene) Engebretson of Albany, WI and many nieces and nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Frank, a son Dana Dean Woodyard paternal grandparents Grace and Lincoln Woodyard and maternal grandparents Mamie and Clarence Cage.
