Donna Josephine (Linnenkamp) Fiems, 81, of Silvis, passed away on Sunday May 4, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Interment will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. A rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 8:30 am – 9:30 am on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Donna was born on January 6, 1944, in Harper, Iowa, to Raymond and Margaret (Wagner) Linnenkamp. She received her bachelor's degree in Education from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa.
She married John Edward Fiems on July 3, 1982, in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2011.
Donna's career was diverse: she was a stay-at-home mother, worked in the education field as a teacher, held various data entry and clerical positions, and ultimately served as a federal employee at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service at the Rock Island Arsenal for 10 years, retiring in 2011.
Donna was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of the Catholic Church. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for over 40 years and was an active volunteer in the parish throughout those years.
Faith and family were at the heart of Donna's life. She found joy in planning and celebrating family events and milestone occasions.
She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who loved watching her grandchildren grow and hearing about all they were accomplishing.
Survivors include her children, Cathy (Steve) Russell, Joey (Christine) Fiems, and Mary Jo Fiems; grandchildren, Tyler Russell, Lexie Russell, Joey (Allie) Fiems, Joey (Kylie) DeKezel, CJ (Tawny) DeKezel, Meagan (Brandon) Anderson, and Dakota (Baylie) DeKezel; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, her twin brother Donald J. Linnenkamp, James (Marlene) Linnenkamp, and Catherine Linnenkamp; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Margaret and Raymond; and her siblings, John Linnenkamp, LaVerne Linnenkamp, Mary Evelyn Donahue, and Sara Quinn.
