Obituary

Donna Sierra , 72, passed away on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025 at her home.

A  Celebration of Life, in Donna's honor, will be held for family and friends on Saturday, September 20th, at Ridgewood towers, 545 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Donna would also have insisted that if so chosen, memorials of plants, not flowers, may be made to the family. Donna was born on October 28, 1952 to Inice (Long) and William Wesley Moyer Sr. in Moline, IL and was raised in Cordova. If asked, both her and James Sierra would roll their eyes and say that they were married, "Sometime in the 80's" at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Silvis, Il. The couple made their home in Silvis where they raised their brats. Donna worked at various Casey's and Targets throughout her life and was the absolute favorite cashier to so many people. Her passion and true joy, though, was raising her four children in an immaculately clean home where she was also an amazing cook.  Cookies, candies, caramel pop-corn, cakes, and the overwhelming scent of those freshly baked cinnamon rolls were undeniably everyone's favorite. And while she loved her children with all her heart, she adored her grandchildren just a pinch more.  From finding money in dirty ears and peeling 'nanners' to squeaky toys for her grand-dogger, her heart shone brightly in her silliness. You could not mention Donna without mentioning her shrines of both Daffy Duck and the Cubs, or of her love of music and made-up lyrics. She was all too aware of her wit and perhaps a touch too proud of the smirk that always came with that unmistakable twinkle in her eye.  She believed she was always right – but those who knew her understood that she was mistaken about two things.  First, that she had far more friends and people that cared about her than she ever gave herself credit for, and second, that her children loved her every bit as deeply as she loved them. She will be profoundly missed by each of her self-proclaimed favorite daughters, Michelle (Roy) Pruett, Amber (Sam) Lewis, Nicole Sierra, and Andrea (Chris) Gray (although we know who really was).  She leaves her warmth and goofiness with her grandchildren; Jessica and Aaron Pruett, Jenna Stoneking, Jamie Dearth, Nathan and Maverick Sierra, Darell Teague, and Markell Sierra.  Her patience and uninhibited silliness go to her great-grandchildren; Lydia, Brandon, Gunther, Lynnex, Bryce, Mallen, Amora, Mordecia, Margot, and Alice.  Her sisters, Julia "Judy" Canaday and Elsie Moyer are blessed with the memories of their baby sister.  All of her other relatives and friends will forever remember the smiles she gave them. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Darraya Teague; sisters, Eunice Ward, Rosanna Reynolds-Vincent, Elva Burden, Inez Talbot; brothers, Delbert, Christian, Joseph, Stanley and Lester Moyer.
