Doran Delbert Wara, 86, East Moline, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 9:30 am Friday at Christ Church Cathedral, 1717 8th Ave., Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to Christ Church Cathedral or the American Cancer Society. Doran was born on June 9, 1930 in Lead, SD, the son of Oscar and Cecilia (Whetter) Wara. Attended the South Dakota School of Mines, Graduated with Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering. Served in the Army Chemical Corp during the Korean War. Retired from John Deere Plow Planter Works. Was in varies positions starting as an Engineer and working up into management. He belonged to the Oakwood Country Club and was a member of the East Moline Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Moline. He was an avid Packer and Illini fan. He tried to go to a Packer game once a year. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. He has the record fish from Leesome Lake in Wisconsin and enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Rose Marie Wara, sons and daughters. Listed in order of age Jeffrey (Dianna) Wara, Kelley (Rich) Chaney, Randy (Kathleen) Wara and Nancy (Mike) Wara Androff. Grandchildren: Melissa and Corey Wara, Ryan and Robert Chaney, Kandi Maxwell, Isadora and Lillian Androff. Special thanks to the staff at Rosewood Care Center and hospice for their compassionate care of Doran.
