Dorathy M. Peterson, 88, East Moline, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport. Funeral services are 11 AM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Dorathy McKaufsky was born October 28, 1925 in Moline, the daughter of Andrew and Nellie (Kasenberg) McKaufsky. She married Harry "Pete" Peterson in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1981. Dorathy retired in the 1990's from the dietary department of Illini Hospital, Silvis. She enjoyed flying, boating, gardening and the great outdoors. She was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching football. Her father built the Palace Tavern at 7th street and 15th Ave. in East Moline. Dorathy and her mother Nellie ran the bar during WWII and her brother Les managed the bar until the 1980's. Survivors include her children, Carole Peterson (Dave Rogers), Cordova, Jeff Peterson (Karey Wilson), East Moline and Gary and Betty Peterson, Brookville, OH, Bob and Connie DeHamer, Port Byron, Jack and Betty DeHamer, East Moline, 14 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, her extended family, Jan Schadt, Andy Schadt and Amy and Steve Vernig and their families. In addition to losing her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cleone Farwell, and brothers Gale McKaufsky and Leslie McKaufsky.
