Doris Jean Gorzney, 85, passed away Monday, October 1st at Rosewood Health Care

Facility. She wanted to live to be 85 and she was proud to have accomplished that.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the Women's Altar and Rosary Society at Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Doris was born at home May 25, 1933 in Joslin, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Clara DeBlaere Versluis. She attended UTHS and graduated from Riverdale High School. She worked at John Deere until she was pregnant with Teresa. She, also, worked at East Moline Mental Health Facility, Silvis Schools and retired from Rock Island County where she worked in the mailroom.

Doris married Robert S. Gorzney on September 16, 1956, in Rapids City, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2016.

Survivors include her four daughters, Teresa (Greg) Doyle, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania,

Gina (Juan) Escontrias, Silvis, Karen (Glen) Sepulvado, Cleveland, Texas, and Loretta (David) Arruda, Davenport, Iowa: grandchildren, Evan Doyle, Colin Doyle, Kyle Escontrias, Anita Willcox, Alec Lance, Nicole Hoff and Holly Cravens; great-grandchildren Noah, Annie, Sophie, Annayse, Evelyn, and Copeland; and, sister-in-law Ann Versluis. She had many nieces and nephews she dearly loved.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Mary Anne and brother Joseph.

Doris loved people. She was active in her church, a hard worker, great cook, and great Mom to shop with. She loved a good party, music, dancing, watching movies on the Hallmark channel and spent time sewing and reading a good book.

She was at home at Rosewood and loved all of the people there. The family would like to Thank the Rosewood staff and residents for their friendship and care of Doris.
