Obituary

Memorial services for Dorothy Ellen Roeh Strohm, 87, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Bettendorf, IA, and Port Aransas, TX, will be at 11:00 AM Saturday March 18, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be two hours prior to services. Mrs. Strohm passed away peacefully surrounded by her family January 30, 2017 at her home.

Dorothy Roeh was born April 20, 1929, in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Henry and Mary Karasek Roeh. She was a graduate of Davenport Central High School and Iowa State University. She married Lloyd D. Strohm June 28, 1952, at Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, Bettendorf. She taught Upper School Mathematics for 30 years at the former St. Katharine/St Marks School, Bettendorf, where a scholarship is endowed in her name.

She had been a member of PEO, Port Aransas Garden Club, and Red Hat Society. She enjoyed reading, playing brain teaser puzzles, and was a Life Master Bridge player. She was a swimming instructor and excelled at Intramural Collegiate sports. She loved traveling with family and friends and cherished her retirement years in Port Aransas, TX where she was a Patron of the Port Aransas Community Theater and a volunteer for the Texas State Aquarium.

Survivors include her children, Tara Lynn Strohm Denver, CO, John David (Mary Pat Link ) Strohm, Denver, and Nina S. (Dr. John) Golden, Moline, IL; foster children, Steve (Cheryl) Manning, Maquoketa, IA, and Steven "Jay" Johnson, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Kristin Strohm (Josh Penry), Matt Strohm, Kelly Strohm, Claire Strohm, Dr. Ryan Golden (Dr. Alexandra), Dr. Ben Golden (Jamie Grivas), Ian Golden, and Zachary Strohm (Amy); great grandchildren, Chase, Emme, Sophie, and Caroline Penry; brother-in-law, Ed Smith, Bettendorf.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Ann Smith.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Dannenfeldt & staff, special caregivers: Yukari, Lisa, Lorena, Ashley, Dr. Magdy Mostafa, and Pastor Becky Sherwood for their excellent care and compassion.
