Funeral services for Dorothy M. Fillmer, 88, East Moline, are 1 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 1-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Dorothy went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at her home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association or to ARC. She was born on April 19, 1917 in New Brunswick, Canada to Frank and Inez Shaw. She was one of eight children. Her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death, George, Lloyd, James, Eldon, Harry Shaw, Grace Christensen and Beulah "Boots" Etzell. She married Clarence Fillmer, December 20, 1935. He died January 7, 1985. Together they had seven children. Dorothy loved her family and loved spending time with her many special grandchildren and great and great-great grandchildren. She spent her life serving others and special needs children as she served as a board member of ARC for many years. She drove school bus for the East Moline School District until retiring in 1987. She loved crafts and she crocheted many beautiful afghans and gifts for her family and friends. She will be missed as the cornerstone of her family. Survivors include children and spouses Gary and Sandra Fillmer, Sherrard, Judith and Richard Scott, East Moline, Cinda and James Heald, East Moline and Sue Fillmer of Carbon Cliff, Tiffaney and Dan Matthews, Matherville, and a daughter-in-law Sharon Fillmer, Moline, eighteen grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
