Dorothy L. Harmening, 95, East Moline, died Friday, October 27, 2006 at home. Private family services and committal will be held. Dorothy Harsch was born October 15, 1911 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Jessie and Verna (Arnold) Harsch. She married Henry "Red" Harmening and together they had 2 sons. Mr. Harmening died in 1976. Dorothy began keeping books at her father's garage in Moline at age 13 and retired from the Red's Garage, East Moline at 91. She was a member of the Rock Island Women of the Moose #168 for 65 years. She was the 1st recording secretary for the Illini Hospital Auxiliary and was a devoted member of many other community organizations. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Laurel Harmening, East Moline and Donald and Dorothy Harmening, East Moline, 16 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, her parents, daughter Jean Lowe, a sister Mary M "Peg" Couri and brother Thomas Harsch precede her in death.
