Dorothy (Dottie) J. Peterson, 78, left to meet her Lord on June 10, 2019. Dottie was born February 24, 1941 to Durwood Martin and Betty (Douglas) Martin in Carthage, IL. After moving at a young age, Dottie became a permanent Quad Cities resident. She married Murel Peterson on September 23, 2000. She was a member of the Moline Activity Center and The Ladies Red Hats. She is a member of Victory Baptist Church, East Moline. Dottie was a volunteer reading tutor for grade schools in Rock Island and, also, a member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. Dottie loved arranging the seasonal flower arrangements and decorations for her church. She, also, sang in the choir and played the organ. She was most proud of finishing the Bix 7 three years in a row and winning ribbons in both the Rock Island County Fair and the Mississippi Valley Fair. Her hobbies were music and writing poetry. She was an avid knitter, crocheter, and seamstress. She is survived by her husband, Murel Peterson; son Dion (Darlene) Slininger; daughter Donita Slininger; grandsons Benjamin Slininger and Michael (Rachel) Slininger; great-grandson, Owen Slininger; sister, Freda (Gerd) Pohlmann; nieces and nephews; and very dear friends.
