Dorothy Riley Pfeifer, 82, passed away on September 22, 2010 in Richmond, VA. Funeral services were held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9400 Redbridge Rd., Richmond. Memorials may be made to the church. The former Dorothy Anna Riley was born January 21, 1928 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth Swanson Riley. She married Robert Frey in Rock Island and later married Carl Pfeifer in Richmond. Dorothy graduated from Moline High School in 1945, Augustana College and Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned her Masters of Music. She was an accomplished pianist and taught at the University. She was a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda and active in her church and Bible study groups, which brought her great happiness. Following retirement she earned her real estate license and worked as a Realtor for a few years. Survivors include her children (spouses) Ruth (Bob) Carver, Richmond, Marti (Jim) Kernan, Moline, Eric Pfeifer, VA Beach, Shawn Pfeifer, Richmond and Bronwen Marshall, Richmond, nine grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, brother Bob Riley, sons; Bob, Jim and Bill Frey and a grandson Jim Jaggers.
