Funeral services for Dorothy "Dot" Scharer, 82, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Miss. Scharer died Friday, April 25, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Dorothy was born July 6, 1925 in Moline, the daughter of Fritz and Katharina (Fluri) Scharer. She retired in 1982 from the former Case/IH Plant, East Moline, after 38 years of service. She had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Over the years, she had golfed and bowled in leagues. She took pride in baking and making candy. She enjoyed working in her yard, feeding the birds, and going out to eat. She loved her family, friends, and neighbors. Survivors include: several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Gertude Moisan and Margaret Kipp, brothers, Max, Fritz, and Richard Scharer.
