Dorothy M. Shamalian, 84, of Silvis, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Unity Point Health Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services are 11AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., East Moline, IL. Visitation is one hour prior from 10AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park, Moline. Dorothy was born February 10, 1933, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Elsie (Asa) Shamalian. She worked for Modern Woodman of America, Rock Island, for 38 years retiring in 1995. Dorothy loved music and played the steel and rhythm guitars; she also played the piano and organ in many churches. She enjoyed giving guitar lessons in her younger years. She loved animals and had many pets during her lifetime. Dorothy's hobbies were making dollhouse miniatures and handmade greeting cards. Survivors include her nephew, Jerry (Jean) Hahn, Geneseo, IL; niece, Jackie Schave, Moline, IL; grandnieces and nephews, Paula Schave, Andrew (Jennifer) Hahn and Benjamin (Marci) Hahn; and great-grandnephews, Simon and Tyler Hahn. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruby Hahn. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, East Moline, or Animal Aid Humane Society of Moline.
