Funeral services for Dorothy P. Sizek, 91, Silvis, are 10 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Graveside services are 10 AM Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation is 5-7 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Christian Wake Service will be read at 6:30 PM. Mrs. Sizek died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Dorothy Calvelage was born June 13, 1916 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of George and Hazel (McCulough) Calvelage. She married Frank Sizek on January 1, 1937. He died January 10, 2002. Dorothy had worked for 28 years at the Rock Island Arsenal as a proofreader and editor, retiring in 1978. She and her husband moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where her husband worked and retired in 1979. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village, and held various positions on the board, belonged to the Hot Springs Village Ladies Club, Home Extension and the Happy Homemakers branch of the Extension. Dorothy moved to Illinois in 2003 and had lived at Angelus, East Moline and Crosstown Square, Silvis. Dorothy loved flower gardening. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Carol and John Dickerson, East Moline and son and daughter-in-law LeMoyne J. and Joanne Sizek, Heber Springs, Arkansas, six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
