Duane Stang, 78, East Moline, died Friday, February 27, 2015 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 11 AM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is from 10 AM until service time. Duane was born on May 22, 1936 in Davenport, IA, the son of Ernest and Alice (DeRycke) Stang. He married Marilyn VanVooren and together they had 2 sons. Duane retired in June of 1985 as a supervisor from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He enjoyed playing golf when his health allowed. He was a peacetime US Army Veteran. Survivors include his sons, Mark Stang, Galesburg, IL and Michael (Kim) Stang, Tulsa, OK, granddaughter, Gabrielle, and brother, David, Cincinnati, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Juanita and Dean.
