Dwight Dopler Jr., 82, East Moline, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rapids City, IL. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to Quad City Honor Flight or St. John's Church, Rapids City. Dwight was born on January 10, 1933 in Rock Island County, the son of Dwight and Dorothy (Lueders) Dopler Sr. He was a graduate of UTHS class of 1951. Dwight was drafted into the US Army and served as a corporal during the Korean Conflict, being stationed in Panama. He married Gabriella Lambrecht on January 24, 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Dwight retired from Art-O-Lite, Moline as an electrician. Dwight enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked all sports and took pleasure in pitching a game of softball with family and friends. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. His greatest love was his grandchildren and great grand babies. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gabby, daughters, Debra (John) Wernick, Port Byron and Denise (Rick) DeBaillie, East Moline, grandchildren; Tyson (Jill) DeMeyer, Danielle (Rich) Willemkens, Sara (Patrick) Watson, Ashley (Dallas) Skiles, Nick DeBaillie, Terran DeMeyer and Lauren Johnson, nine great grandchildren and a brother Frank Dopler, Port Byron, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Nancy DeMeyer and Laurie Johnson, brother Harvey and sisters, Betty Foutch and Elsie Sawyer.
