Funeral services for E. Kenneth Hignight, 71, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00 AM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Private committal services will be held at Roselawn Cemetery, Moline, IL. Mr. Hignight died Friday June 4, 2010 at his home. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline, where he had been a member. Ken was born January 28, 1939 in Moline, IL, the son of Emmett and Lela Hill Hignight. He married Karen Nelson July 30, 1960 in East Moline. He was a graduate of United Township High School and attended Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, and Illinois State University Bloomington/Normal, IL. He retired from the former International Harvester Works, East Moline after 23 years of service. He joined the family business "Hignights Florist" in 1976 and retired in 2005. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Karen Hignight of East Moline; daughters Karla and Ray Husted of East Moline, Kara and Dave Bugos of McLoud, OK; son, Ken Hignight of East Moline; 14 grandchildren: 6 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Jill Hignight of Sarasota, FL, Craig Hignight of Rock Island, IL, Joe and Georgiann Hignight of Davenport, IA.
