Earl Gene Hallam, 78, Colona, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his home. Graveside services are 12:30PM Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Colona American Legion will conduct military honors. Visitation is 1-4PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Earl was born February 20, 1933 in Iola, KS, the son of Earl and Marie Louise Searls Hallam. He retired from Case IH, East Moline after 34 years with the company. He was a Drill Sergeant in the US Marine Corp. Earl was a member of the Colona American Legion, the VFW, the Marine Corp League and the Silvis Eagles. He loved fishing and boating. Survivors include his companion Dellie Steele, children; Earl "Clyde" Hallam, East Moline, Jamie Hallam, Milan and Charles Hallam, Milan, five grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters.
